About Us

Westwood Dog Services is a small local business that provides mid-day walks for your dog & drop-in visits.  In special circumstances, we can take your dog to the vet or provide at-home help after surgery.  Dogs are always leashed unless they are in the owner’s fenced in yard. Gates are checked before a dog is let into the yard to ensure that maintenance people have not inadvertently left gates open or that a storm has not take down a portion of a fence. Safety is our first consideration in caring for your pet.

I have more than a decade of experience in handling dogs from shelters – foster/way station for many adult greyhounds moving from racetracks to their “forever home”.  During this period, dogs face many challenges from not being familiar with stairs, little training, shy & frightened dogs as well as dogs that are used to their “own space”.  In addition, I have a background in medical laboratory technology and have set up a blood laboratories for Veterinary hospitals and as part of this, worked with many different type of dogs in a hospital setting.

Lastly, I love dogs and have always had a dog(s) in my life. Norweigan Elkhounds, Malamutes, German Shepherds, Dobermans, and Greyhounds have been breeds that have graced my life.  My dogs have ranged in size from 45 (Elkhound) to 120 pounds (Shepherd).  I, like most people that have dog companions, have had dogs that experienced different medical issues like seizures, IBD, and osteosarcoma (bone cancer) which required leg amputations. My dogs have been on home-made diets for more than a decade and have blood work every year to ensure nutritional needs are being met – with this expertise,  I can offer suggestions on diets changes.
